Privacy notice

The heating checker is designed to work without asking for your name, email address or exact address. Do not enter personal or sensitive information into free-text contact channels.

Home Upgrade Desk owns and maintains this notice. It was published on 28 August 2026 and is checked when the service’s data handling changes.

What information does the checker use?

The choices you make about a home and heating priorities are held in memory while you use the checker and processed by our first-party checker service to calculate a result. They are not retained after that evaluation, persisted as a lead or included in optional measurement. The checker does not need an account.

What technical records may exist?

Like most websites, the hosting and security services may process limited request data such as an IP address, time, requested page, browser information and security signals to deliver and protect the site. Retention and access should be limited to operational, security and legal needs.

Are advertising or affiliate profiles created?

The service does not need cross-site advertising tracking to provide an answer. Optional site measurement through our EU-hosted PostHog project stays off unless you accept it. If you accept, we intentionally capture named checker-stage and partner-link events, a final route label and short-lived random session identifiers. PostHog may also process limited technical request data needed to receive and protect those events. We do not send your checker answers, name, contact details or exact address. Automatic click and form capture, page tracking, session replay, heatmaps, surveys, feature flags and advertising tags are disabled.

What are your choices?

You can accept, reject or later withdraw optional measurement from the privacy control in every page footer. Rejecting does not limit the site. Withdrawal takes effect immediately and clears temporary journey identifiers from your browser. Where supported, the measurement service also respects a browser Do Not Track signal as an additional opt-out. UK data-protection rights depend on the processing involved; the Information Commissioner’s Office provides authoritative guidance. A working privacy contact will be published before any feature that collects contact details launches.
